House Types – Condos, Apartments, Co-ops

An apartment is a self-contained house unit that’s part of a building, usually on one story or level.

A condominium or condo is a building divided into many separately-owned units with common areas that are jointly-owned.

A housing co-operative or co-op is a legal entity that owns one or more residential buildings.

A townhouse or townhome is an individually-owned house with at least two floors that share a wall with another house.

A recreational vehicle or RV is a motor vehicle or trailer that can be used for habitation. A good example is a a skoolie.

A travel trailer, camper or caravan is designed for residence, must be towed regularly by a vehicle, & can’t move on its own.

A tiny house is a house that’s 500 square feet or less & suitable for long term living. It can be built on a trailer or barge.

Houseboat or float houses are boats designed to be lived in.

A tent is a temporary, movable dwelling usually made with fabric covering a frame of lightweight wood or other locally-available material.
